Federico Tibone is an Italian conductor, pianist and vocal coach. Chosen by Lawrence Foster,
he served as Associate Conductor at the Opéra de Marseille and the Orchestre
Philharmonique de Marseille from 2022 to 2025. He is also Associate Professor of Conducting
at the Conservatoire de Lille.
He has conducted Così fan Tutte by Mozart and Madama Butterfly by Puccini in Orvieto
(2017, 2020), Un Ballo in Maschera by Verdi at the Abay National Opera in Kazakhstan (2018),
La Périchole by Offenbach in Paris (2021), Paganini by Franz Lehár, Le nozze di Figaro by
Mozart, and the ballet Age of Content (choreographed by La Horde) at the Opéra de Marseille
(2024), as well as Il Trovatore by Verdi at the Opéra de Québec (2025).
Originally from Turin, Federico studied piano with Vera Drenkova. After graduating from the
Conservatoire, he worked as a répétiteur at the Teatro Regio di Torino on numerous opera
productions, including La Bohème, La Traviata, Norma and Il barbiere di Siviglia.
In 2015, he moved to Paris to study conducting with Nicolas Brochot and joined the
Académie of the Paris Opera (2015–2017), working as a vocal coach and pianist on
productions such as La Traviata, Tosca, Die lustige Witwe, Iphigénie en Tauride and Orfeo.
Federico has collaborated with many renowned conductors and singers, including Lawrence
Foster, Bertrand de Billy, Dan Ettinger, Paolo Arrivabeni, Michele Spotti, Frédéric Chaslin,
Patrick Lange, José van Dam, Sophie Koch, Thomas Hampson, Véronique Gens, Anja
Harteros, and Ramon Vargas.
He has received several awards in national and international competitions, including Second
Prize at the "Premio Venezia" Piano Competition (Teatro La Fenice, 2009), and Second Prize
at the 8th International Opera Conducting Competition in Orvieto (2018).
In May 2025, he released Gracias a la Vida, a recital album recorded with mezzo-soprano
Anne-Lise Polchlopek and guitarist Pierre Laniau, on Outhere Music.
Deeply committed to musical outreach, Federico is conductor of Démos Marseille, a youth
orchestra project initiated and supported by the Philharmonie de Paris.
